Members Bg193ch Posted August 15, 2016 Members Posted August 15, 2016 Went out with my wife for a few hours Sunday. From 9 till noon. Wind was kicked up and it was overcast. Water temp was 86. Started out shallow with spinnerbait and swimbait hoping the wind would have em movin around. No luck on some gravel flats. Fished around the island that you come to right out of prairie crk. Then we headed to escalupia and threw shakey heads for awhile. Caught one on a lay down and hooked another farther back on the crk by a dock. Figured we would have more success, but I was glad to get my wife for awhile.
Stump bumper Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I was out around sunset just looking for some top water action and finally spotted some 4 to six inch shade jumping out of 85 feet of water. I drooped the trolling a motor a couple of hundred yards out and headed toward them, I could see monster Vs being cut on top and swirls as big fish were in a feeding spree all over the school they had just run to the top. Just as soon as I was in casting distance a pontoon boat with four older men ran right up to me almost washing me off the front of my boat then raced right through the surfacing fish. Didn't see any other activity at all so I went back to PC and went home. Can't wait for cold weather, when do those fair weather fishermen put up their boats? RyanG, Lance34, Bg193ch and 1 other 4

I hear ya Stump...the level of stupidity of some people on the lake amaze me. We have had 3 boats in the last 2 tournaments drive between us and the bank. And we are only 30 or 40 yards off the bank when this has happened!! One boat would have came close to running over my line but I reeled in real fast and just raised both arms up in the air to signal the 'are you are stupid as I think you are' universal sign.
Dan the fisherman Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I got out today at 630. I marked a couple for big schools of fish. Both times I was able to hook up with some fish. Got them on a drop shot. They moved a lot and couldn't stay on top of them. Ended up with just the two fish before it got dark.

I had an old couple run between me and the bank this morning and was about 30-40 feet from bank. They waked me a few times this morning. I figured an old man would know better. He was pulling his wife on skies and kept coming within 20yards or so of me. Worst part is I was the only one out there and they had the lake to him self but I guess he just couldn't resist getting near me. ? Guess some people will never learn
jeb Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 If that was mid-lake area, down around Coppermine, I see them all the time. Must be some ritual they have. It's pretty much every day. I've never had them cut me like that, but they do seem to follow the same course all the time. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha

Fished from 830 to 11 and had 5 12 inch spots.

This is why I put my boat up for 3 months every summer and just play golf. I don't trust myself when it comes to turning the other cheek to idiots like these.
sfiser Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 are you guys talking about the red/white ski boat that goes out super early in the morning pulling a female skier? I fish a bluff end near his dock and he comes flying out of there and gets within 15-20 yards of me each time when he has the ENTIRE lake (and its a wide piece of lake right there). guy is a real tool bag
jeb Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 No, the boat I'm talking about is a runabout, not a dedicated ski boat. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
