Great 11 Point River canoe/kayak race and Fun Float update: We are down to 6 days to sign up (Aug 24) and we need more participants or the event won't be viable. At least 30 more people need to enter or we will have to scrap the fundraiser so call 417-778-6497 to participate. The race is scheduled for Sat, SEPT 24.
3rd Annual Great Eleven Point River Canoe/kayak Race and Fun Float will be held Sat Sept 24, 2016. It will once again benefit the Greer Mill restoration project via the Friends of the Eleven Point River. The race will be from Greer to Riverton (20 miles) and the fun float will be Whitten to Riverton (8miles). There will be solo and tandem divisions. Here are the details:
The entry fee will be $75/person ( less than the previous 2 years) and will include:
-canoe or kayak rental or shuttle of privately owned boats.
-transportation to and from the river
-$20 donation to the Greer Mill
-5 $1 raffle tickets
-Live music (band will be announced soon)
-Post race beverages (beer/soda)
-free camping at the canoe rental
-A BBQ vendor will be at the post party.
We will be selling raffle tickets all summer at the canoe rental for a Jackson Tupelo kayak ($5/ticket or 5 tickets for $20). Winner will be drawn at post race party with proceeds going to the mill.
