Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 11, 2007 Root Admin Posted March 11, 2007 Rumors are crappie are being caught in Long and James area. No details but they should be out from spawning banks and suspended. Anyone trying them?
flipper Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 yep!! they are in the main lake channells on the James arm.We launched @ Cape Fair this am, four fisherman in two seperate boats caught fifteen in one boat 20 in the other. No luck in the coves. All very nice slabs averaging 16 inches all nice and fat threw back maybe 4 or 5 dinks. majority caught on minnows and before noon.I know this aint exactly "tearin-em-up" but they are there! The ramp at Cape Fair bridge was a night mare @ sundown.
Jason Essary Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 beats me. catch 5 and 2 male whites. 7am till noon. Tried everything I know of in shallow water. All 5 crappies were just over 10". would have tried the deeper bite but forgot to take the graph of my bass boat. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 11, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted March 11, 2007 Graph?? What's a graph? Note: I haven't had a "working" depth finder on my boat in 3 years. Not bragging- confessing I'm lazy more than anything. I usually use the ol' count method for depth- or lift the rod as high as it'll go and drop the jig. I figure that's about 12 feet.
Members markg Posted March 11, 2007 Members Posted March 11, 2007 This is encouraging.....6 more days until get to try!!!
Bill Babler Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 So that's why we never go in your boat, is because you don't have a graph. I can see a Christmas Present will save me some gas. Buster hit it very hard up Long Creek today, and got the skunk. They have got to start soon. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
crappiefisherman Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Phil dont feel bad about the graph.I fished for many years finding crappie with a flasher.I have a hand me down graph now but some times i think its too good and i fish for trash a lot of times [ [
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 12, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted March 12, 2007 Yea but who catches the most when we go :) :)
Bill Babler Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 They just like you better. Besides, I have to net all your fish and that takes away from my quality fishing time. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
CMAC Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Second hand report minnow fishing was good in the guts/channels and something was biting because there were boats everywhere bank hugging.
