Blll Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 6am-10 am. Out for the 1st time in a month. WT 82. Fished from PC to Beaver Shores. Top water, ned, drop shot, grubs, spinnerbait all zeroed. Points, gravel banks, and docks. Saw no fish activity except carp. Only the 2nd skunk this year. Beaver humbled me again. Only 1 boat trailer in PC lot and zero at rt.12 bridge. I guess everyone else all knew something I didn't. "NOT TODAY"
Dan the fisherman Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 That's a tough break Bill. Beaver is a tough lake and I've been smacked down on several occasions. I'm having trim issues on the old nitro or else I would have been out fishing. I really hope to have it back before the weekend. I haven't been out since Friday and am ready for tight lines. Blll 1
Blll Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 Too bad on the trim issue. I missed a couple weeks in July with an engine gremlin myself but the 10 yr old Nitro is screamin' just fine now. Been out a few times with the family on swim trips. In my 3 summers here, I never saw the lake as crowded as it was last Sunday. Constant wake chop from bridge to PC. Lunch at JJ's was good but took 2 hours. Ready to start my crappie quest soon. Should I start farther upstream near Hickory? See ya out there.
J-Doc Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 You're not the only one from what I hear. I fished for a couple hours Friday and Saturday and then Monday. Zeroed first two trips (only 2hrs per trip) and covered water mostly. Sunday, I caught two fish and covered even more water. My problem is patience and trying to find active fish. Once I find them, I don't camp out on them to make them bite. If they are not biting in 10-15mins, I'm moving on. I went from below War Eagle to PC. I never really found a patten. Anything I caught was random and did not seem to have a pattern I could find. Fish from 6ft to 30ft. Water is turning over so I think they are roaming and spread apart. Lady at the Corp booth said they have had bad reports for over a month and no one has seen whites schooling in mass schools in 1-2years. Need marine repair? I may be wrong though, I never target crappie and only catch them on accident. I know I do well from pt 12 and up to MN every year and not even trying. Ill catch a bunch Striper fishing believe it or not. Crappie are true pretetors
Quillback Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Tough day for me on Table Rock yesterday also, I caught three 12 inch bass. Caught 20 last Friday, but what worked Friday did not work yesterday. Early September is a tough time for fishing around here, I'm hoping that the forecast for a cold front to come through tomorrow with some rain it true. I think a good rain and cooler temps will help to get the fish going. Blll 1
Stump bumper Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Barometric Pressure will bottom out Friday afternoon and the cold front will come in Saturday morning. I am betting the fish will turn on more with the approach of the storm late Friday and Friday night then after the storm Saturday morning. Then again I am usually wrong, but I am going to fish both just to see. Blll 1
Dan the fisherman Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Got out today around 430. Fished till dark. It was a grind. I got 2. A small white and a small LMB. There was a lot of activity but it all shut down at 530-6. Seems like the best action I had was when I first got there. Weird .
J-Doc Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 I have not witnessed a good topwater bite in I don't know when. You know, drive up to the lake or pull into a cove and after a few minutes, you see some good topwater strikes. Some really massive ones and some normal bass activity. That was a few years ago. I haven't seen normal activity in over a year or more. And I definitely haven't seen large boils of schooling activity in years. Need marine repair? Dan the fisherman Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 I've had several good top water/drop shot days sense getting back form vacation. Today ( along with other days) threw me off cuz they were busting earlier in the day. Not at dusk. I have a theory about this, but I need to let it play out more before I can say anything. I love fishing beaver, when I think I've got it down, it throws me a curve ball. Lol. Maybe Monday or Tuesday I'll have a more promising report.
