Went down to BSC this morning. Was hoping to find a little bit high water with a dark green tint. Instead I found water that was a little higher than I expected, but still more than fishable, and it had a hint of light brown color to it typically meaning that fishing would not be the best. Figured I would do half of the run I had planned on in order to not waste the hour drive. I ended up catching three Trout within in an hour and a half, which  was not bad considering the conditions.

One thing I did see which was kind of neat, but kind of not so neat as well was a family of five River Otters coming down stream playing, splashing, and knocking each other off of logs. That was the neat part, but by now I imagine you are picturing the bad part. They were decimating all aquatic life from bank to bank. If you have ever fished BSC you would know that it wouldn't take long for a family of 5 Otters to wipe out an entire pool of trout, if not an entire stretch, and it appeared they were on their morning stroll of a long stretch of the creek. I yelled at them and explained how the fish they were killing were under the legal limit, but they acted as if they didn't understand me...

After talking with the Camp Mihaska Director last year, he said from time to time they have big problems with them eating the stocked trout in the lakes, but typically only in really cold winters when the river gets too cold do they start coming up the creek because of the warmer water, but it is not winter so that is a little unsettling.I know it is just another animal that is part of Nature's balance but someone go out and catch those Vermin, or refer me to a trapper lol!

Thanks for the report mreed81. Glad you got some time off to do a little fishing. I have wondered if there had been any otters spotted on BSC recently.

Racing season is winding down and ending next weekend so I will have much more time to fish after that. I'll be reaching out to you soon to meet up and catch some.
