A friend of mine had a big striper straighten his hook on a buzzbait this week up by the sidewalk hole. I guess they will eat the buzzer!!

Was that Ryan Toomer by chance? If so I saw that video. Insane!

I am really surprised there are any that far south. Did he see the fish? I have always heard that some stayed around point 12 all year, but the sidewalk hole is really shallow right now, Seems strange they would run up there when the water is this warm?

Stump, I put in at Sidewalk ramp on Saturday and trolled all the way to Point 12. Saw a lot of shad balls and fish but only thing that would take my lures were crappie. Made a swing in the flats out past point 12 and saw some top water activity so shut down the motor and reeled everything in and grabbed my pole that had a spook tied on.  Nothing so went to a swim bait and nothing on it. The activity died down so was getting ready to troll back up river and put on a lure I hadn't used in years a Smoo. I threw it out and reeled in to watch the action on it and caught maybe a 3 lb. hybrid. I kept tossing it with various retrieve speeds but nothing else. Tolled back to Sidewalk with it on but other than a couple more undersize crappie no other takers. This was late afternoon and the topwater activity was only when there was some thicker cloud cover. The picture below is from the internet but is the color I had. This has a very tight and fast wiggle , more than I remember. I would love to see some stripers move up into War Eagle as the water cools. Thanks

It was 100% a striper..he had his GO pro on when it hit. Straightened his hook out completely straight!!

I was up at sidewalk hole the week before the Everett championship and saw several stripers busting shad. And I am 1000% sure it was stripers...it sounded like someone dropping a VW bug in the lake when the big ones came up!?  A buddy was catching crappie up the river this weekend and said he saw several feeding also.

Thanks for the info, that blows my mind since I have seen zero around PC and that backs my theory there are Stripers that don't run all the way back North in the Summer. I think they hide in the deep around Pt 12 or the water intake since I always see big fish deep there in the hot months, but it is hard to tell what the are.

I wish I had more time to get down there more often. As far as straightening hooks I have had some flat heads do that to me down there while bass and striper fishing that is why I asked if he saw the fish. I would love to see the video, is it on Youtube?
