Had similar luck as you this deer season. Had 6 days to get it done on public land in the ozarks during regular season. First 5 of those I didn't see a single deer, despite being there all day. Last day I saw 4, and almost got the kind of shot I felt would be clean and quick, and then the deer pulled a vanishing act on me. Hoping to give it another go during antlerless.

Public land hunting in the Ozarks is awfully touch and go. Can absolutely be rewarding but there are a lot of days where you have to just be happy with scenery and solitude.

Heck, I cannot complain. During a particularly warm, sunny afternoon, I generally won't even try to stay awake. A ten point buck could basically come sit on my lap before I'd know about it.

I love deer hunting, wouldn't miss it for the world, but it has been years since I have stopped pretending to take it seriously.

Thanks for sharing. Health has kept me from hunting last couple years.

I hunted Peck Ranch once my wife got a Deer I didn’t.

Did bunch of hunting Caney Mountain. Just different hunting than Grain Fields which I’ve done both.

Last time I hunted Caney I climbed one hill just because I knew I never would have a chance again brought down a small rock. So I figure I still have that hill.

Funny have a Ruby from Colorado and a Rock out of 600 feet in a mine.
