Guest Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 I had never fished out of Tucker Hollow and decided to drive over and give it a shot. The water temp was 60 when I started fishing and 62 at the end of the day. I ended up fishing mostly in creek arms and coves and caught 13 bass (6 Spots, 2 Smallmouth, 1 Mean-mouth, and 4 Largemouth) and had 5 keepers (all Spots). I had hoped to catch some decent Largemouth, but that didn't happen. Started off throwing spinnerbaits and crank baits and caught a few, but the bite was kinda tough. So, I threw the Ned Rig and starting getting more bites. I lost the first several bass I hooked on the Ned, until I sharpened my hook and loosened my drag. Then I started landing nearly all the fish I hooked on that rig. Some good looking water over there, and I'll head back sometime to give it another try....
Ham Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 How many rigs did you break off? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Guest Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Honestly, I only broke off one or two Ned Rigs. I did get hung up quite a bit. But, when I fish any kinds of jigs, once I realize the jigs wedged in something, I don't put any additional pressure on the jig, and I try the "bow trick" with my line like people commonly do with crankbaits. If that dosen't work, which it does a surprising amount, I just go behind where the bait is snagged and pop it out with my rod tip (unless it's a really good spot, then I just break it off) or apply tension behind where I was snagged if it's too deep for that. Using that procedure, I usually don't loose too many jigs.
