Members Jennings_Tom Posted January 13, 2017 Members Posted January 13, 2017 Planning to take my first trip to Taneycomo next weekend. Looking to find out what to expect and a good place to start. I trout fish a lot, however hardly never anywhere but Montauk. I know it's gonna be a world of difference. Just looking for any help to get the ball rollin in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 13, 2017 Root Admin Posted January 13, 2017 How do you fish at Montauk?
Members Jennings_Tom Posted January 13, 2017 Author Members Posted January 13, 2017 Phil I mostly sight fish. 1/32nd ounce jigs. We're bringing a jet boat and have been reading about running up in the trophy area. Still undecided. Haven't every thrown any small Rebels or Rapalas for trout
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 13, 2017 Root Admin Posted January 13, 2017 Those jigs are PERFECT. Jet up to Lookout and sight fish up there - on the shallow side. Get up past the island (only in a jet) and fish just above the island, still in shallow water. You'll do very well, unless it's windy. Then you're throwing and not seeing anything but still can do well. Might have to go to bigger jigs. Deadstream and Jennings_Tom 2
Members Jennings_Tom Posted January 13, 2017 Author Members Posted January 13, 2017 Thank you! Are you the one putting on the tournament? We are thinking about entering it just for the fun of it. Also, do they run generators on the weekend usually?
