Blll Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Yea. Don't leave fish to find fish. Had stripers in mind with some good reports but I haven't been out for 3 weeks and started casting. !st cast- 15 " smallie. finished the point with 2 more short smallies and a decent spot. Might be a pattern right? But with $20 worth of brooders in the bait tank off I went. Could not find bait balls, could not find active gulls, could not find stripers. 4 hrs later I could not get bit casting either. When will I learn. wt,44-47. Drop dead beautiful day! Ozark Flyer Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 More often than not, my day turns out the same when I leave a bite to go looking....and I still do it! Guess I'll never learn.
Bill Babler Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 As a guide I try never ever to do that. If you find them, hang with them. It's really hard to do. After a period of catching I think it is just our nature to try and improve on what we are doing. This time of year it just doesn't work. At times you can get away with it, but not now. I always tell folks, if we leave these and try to get bigger it all likelihood we will be done. Funny, most say, lets go get em. We learn something every day. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
