Dan the fisherman Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 After Tuesday's skunk I took Wednesday off to regroup and get my mind right. I got back out there this morning at 7am. Boy was it chilly, my truck was telling me it was 22 at the ramp. I launched out of PC as I do when I don't know where fish are. I covered about half the water I cover Tuesday. I couldn't find n e thing the first 2 hrs and was about to head back. But then, I seen my first mark and then 5 more. Then birds started to work right in front of me and boils started to pop up on the surface. I drop a spoon down and got a chunky spotted bass. They were moving Fast so I couldnt really keep up with them pulling live bait. So I cut off my hooks and put cranks off the sides and a umbrella rig out the back. From 9-11 I hooked up and landed 1 spot and 3 stripers. I had one massive striper hit the the umbrella rig. It pulled drag forever until the snap swivel gave way and was straighten. I wish I would have landed that one. I've hung up on trees with the umbrella before and the hooks will give before the snap swivel. So I was really shocked. It was a great 2 hrs, and my persistence payed off this time. Just gotta keep my head down and at it. ?? WT was 46 and air temp was under 30. Good luck out there fellas stay safe. grizwilson, dan hufferd, PigSooner and 11 others 14

Heck I didn't even take a pic of the first striper either. I was in full catch mode. Everything I caught today went back btw. But in the heat of the moment I guessed it at 1 1/2-2 pounds. It was one of the biggest I've caught on beaver. It had to be big rolling with stripers lol.
Quillback Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I was thinking maybe in the 2.5 - 3 lb. range, but hard to tell sometimes from a pick. A nice spot however. Dan the fisherman 1
Dan the fisherman Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 You maybe right. It was really fat!!!!! My judgement gets messed up after catching 10Lbs+ stripers all winter. Everything looks smaller after tangling with those mean striped bass. lol
