Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 26, 2017 Root Admin Posted February 26, 2017 Tough fishing today for most. No one ran away with it... very close in team place and big rainbow. No legal browns caught. Seth 1
Seth Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Saturday was a struggle in that wind. It made it so difficult to feel the bites when throwing jigs and also nearly impossible to keep the slack out of the line when fishing a jig below a float. There were a few times I got a bite on the jig and float and when I set the hook, there was so much bow in the line that I never even moved the float. My buddy had a good brown hooked, but it broke him off at the boat. It looked like it would be in that 18-19" range so it didn't really matter, but it would have been nice to throw it on the bump board just to be sure. It's amazing what a day does to fishing. Before heading home, we put the boat in and fished from 10-1pm.. We started out up around Short Creek and caught a couple during the first hour before deciding to run down to Monkey Island. Fish were midging all over so we threw pink trout magnets, white thread jigs and pink micro jigs about 18" below a float and caught 20-25 in two hours with several around a pound. They wouldn't touch a jig fished straight. I lost one bow that looked like it was pushing 17-18". Phil Lilley and fishin_addict 2
