Members ChiefWannaCatchem
Planning a trip later in March but Nemo landing doesn't take reservations for camping until mid April. Not sure if they're closed or just don't require reservations . Any other suggestions with easy Lake access?
MOPanfisher
Nemo Park will actually open with a "Limited Season" on March 15. The limited season basically means we will turn on the electricity for campsites. There will be no water. The charge will be $10 per night, no reservations during that time, strictly first come first serve, Outlet Park will also have the early "limited" season, however Outlet will have water available, and the dump station will be open there. Why you ask, because there is actual soil in the Outlet so we can bury water lines deep enough to not freeze. Regular campground opener is April 16, when reservations will be available, shower houses etc. the whole shebang. Your other choice would be the state Park or Possibly The Harbor depending on how close to the water you want to be. The number for the State Park is 417-852-4291, you can call them and see if either side will be open in march for camping.

MOPanfisher
Yes it does, but it only goes into the river. If you prefer to camp down there to have water and a dump station I would recommend trailering your boat over to the state park to launch, they do not charge any fee to launch. You would not be on the lake, you would actually be on the river below the dam, not sure how big of a deal that is for you. I have camped in the parks and only left my boat on the shoreline once, the rest of the time I load it back up and kept it at the campsite with me. I am not a trusting person and actually have helped folks recover their boat that was on the shoreline when a store came up and the waves began breaking over the stern and down it went, not to mention whatever damage is done to the hull. having said that I see campers all the time with their boats parked on the shoreline for a week or more and no issues.
