Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 24, 2007 Root Admin Posted March 24, 2007 Just talked to a friend who teaches in Forsyth. He has great ears and hears what's going on at the Pothole, Swan and Beaver. I wish I'd been talking to him all winter. Walleye- he said they did very well on walleye when the water was running fishing from the wing wall on the Forsyth side in Jan and Feb. He said a 19-pounder was caught (2nd time I'd heard that story). Lots of 22-24 inches caught. Nothing in Swan Creek yet. Beaver- big sows were being caught at the Maiden Hole in the evenings 2 weeks ago. Water is very clear and they are only hitting at low light. Small one being caught right now but the big whites should be getting back up any day. I rain would bring them up big time. I trust this guy otherwise I wouldn't have bothered posting. Hope to turn him on to the forum- he'd be a good source.
vonreed Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Thanks for the report Lilley, But there are fish in Swan now. I went last night, 3/23, and seen where someone had cleaned some white bass and 1 crappie above 160 bridge. They could have been caught somewhere else I thought, but I stuck around for a little while and caught 1 short walleye and 6 white bass. I wish more people would report on here like your freind though to help everyone out instead of just reading reports and not reporting themselves.
Tightline Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Guys, if I ever have a good or even an average outing this year on the Bull I will post it.So far,I have been 5 times and just barely escaped the skunk each time thanks to Trout and Bass.I went to James Friday first time this year and loaded the boat.I know that there are some Whites in Swan and Beaver. I consider upper Bull Shoals my home water even though I dont live in the area any more, I love to fish down there mainly because of the big Walleye that a guy might hook into.It looks like I may have to go Stockton or Truman Tailrace to get my first Wally of the year! If I was ever to catch 19 lb Walleye I'll guarantee you guys and everyone else in SW Missouri would know about it! Guess if I just keep a chuckn and a windn it will get better. You know someone is catching fish, they are just tight lipped. And it does seem like Bull Shoals is the worst one for that. TL
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 25, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted March 25, 2007 I hesitated to report this cause there's those who I know fish these areas on the forum and have not done well... the walleye I've heard from several sources so I thought I'd report that. I guess you have to take all reports with a grain of sand, including mine. Just hope they're somewhat accurate... hopeful at least.
Tightline Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Didn't mean to sound so whiney, and I appreciate any report, especially from a local that you know Phil. This is not the first time that Bull Shoals has done this to me in Feb and March.Timing has alot to do with it and I am not so vain to think because I'm not catching that every ones not catching.Don't hesitate to report anything. I also heard the big Walleye story, but it was a 20 lber caught in Dec. Thanks for all the reports from everyone. TL

Bill Babler Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 There has to be a picture or certified weight of that kind of fish. I simply can't believe someone caught such a behomouth, without any documentation. I hunger for more details. I know thousands of fish and meat eaters, that can't pay the rent and live as poor as a church house mouse, and even if they planned to consume such a fish, they would have spent their last penneys to buy a disposable camera and photo a fish of a life time like that. I believe you Phil if you say so, but this is the show-me-state. As Rex and Charlie have said, they heard tell of lots of 20 pounders, but never did see one. Maby this one is for real. Hope so. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Fishhand Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I'm not sure if this is the fish you guys heard was caught at the skunkhole, I mean pothole, but it was a 19.5 lber. http://stren.flwoutdoors.com/tournament.cf...&aid=145508
