But that's how i roll & eventually the fish will move into my areas. Obviously, I need to work on my offshore game. I have the same problem. I went out Sunday and didn't get a bite. But I was fishing from the bank to about 9' deep. I threw just about everything but an A-rig. I have never used one. Beaver has not been good to me.
RyanG Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I fish the bank a lot and a couple of weeks ago, if I couldnt get them to take a jerkbait I would find more vertical banks and toss the A rig right against the bank and let it pendulum back towards the boat. I caught several 3 pound class largemouth and about a dozen spotted bass doing that. My buddy threw his parallel to the bank in much deeper water and caught some spots but also boated a 10 and 17 pound striper doing that. I like the bluff banks because I can almost always fish deeper water with out moving too far off the bank and also have the transitions to fish when they are holding there. Im definitely not dialed in like mike seems to be though! Just incredible!
Dan the fisherman Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I've almost stopped fishing shallow All together. Really the only time I hit the bank is when the water temps hits 58-72. After that, it's back to off shore fishing for me.
Stump bumper Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I was trolling around yesterday and found some big rocks and brush piles in 25-30 feet of water. Every-time I found that type of cover with nothing else around it, the cover was loaded with keeper large mouth. I could see the big rocks with fish hanging off the top and the sides on my down imaging then pulled the Arig over it. I was lazy and just pulling it with the road holder (broke a rod holder and almost lost a pole doing this). Then when I hooked up, I would go back and cast and get two or three more. Those rocks and brush are in my GPS now. Vinsott, RyanG and Dan the fisherman 3
