Members Chris Campbell Posted May 3, 2017 Members Posted May 3, 2017 I am headed down to the lake for a long weekend. With the high water has anyone made it out to search for bass. Was hoping to get some sort of an idea of what to start throwing. Have they moved up shallow into the flooded bushes yet or are they hanging out in deeper water?
lmt out Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Wasn't bass fishing but caught a bunch while walleye fishing yesterday. Fished 20ft deep mostly. Caught them in crawler harnesses and jig and crawler. Don't know how that would translate to bass lures. Maybe Carolina or Texas rigged plastic worms. dan hufferd 1
Members Bassin' fool Posted May 4, 2017 Members Posted May 4, 2017 I'm heading out this weekend also, I'm thinking there will probably be some bass up in the bushes but I'd say the majority of the bass will be out deeper, especially any that are still on beds. This time of year when the lake is up I've always fished the "original" shore line, so with the lake being about 10' high I would tend to start on secondary points and spawning pockets 10-15' deep with a c-rigged lizard or brush hog or a crank bait. The shad spawn should be starting up any time as well so keep an eye on the bushes and over hangs for any shad activity. nhornback and Smithvillesteve 2
