In my home state of Delaware

(dela-where?  :D) we have a very small pond stocked with trout. They are hard to catch. Most people only go home with 1 or 2 off of mouse tails, but I personally had luck with inflated worms. Anyway, on opening day I was next to the guy who caught the first limit. He was using what looked to be spinners, but he was jerking them instead of a steady retrieve. I had no luck when I tried doing that. Does anyone know why that might be? Any other tips for pond trout fishing?

Inline spinner like a Rooster Tail?  I have limited experience on trout down here but I was fishing a hair jig and my buddy fished a white rooster tail and caught as many as I did.  He just straight retrieved, though.

yeah i couldnt tell what brand it was though. he just retrieved it with jerks. I didnt know why that worked for him anf not me. im thinking he did something special and was wondering if you guys did anything like that

Sounds like he was treating it more like a spoon. If so differences in line weight or diameter could change the speed of the drop or have more flutter as it dropped.
