Members Growler Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Terry, We were doing a TV commercial for a gadget to help with cross stitch. We called a local lady we found on the internet to help by acting and/or technical directing. Innocent enough...but...she got all bent out of shape about it. She couldn't lend her likeness or talents for such a project. It was beneath her to even consult on proper form (we knew nothing about cross stitching) and, how dare we even ask her! Wow, all we did was ask. Morale: the name says it all. "Needle" "Point". Protect yourself...wear eye protection. G
Members SplitShot Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 BB-Are you serious!I've fished TR for 25+ years, most of those years from the bank. When I was able to purchase a boat, I got what I could afford, not what I wanted and was thankful to be able to do that.Everyone has been cut off, but I guess you're the only one that has been the victim exclusively of "Tracker Trash".As for myself, I've been pulled up on by guys in Bass Buggies to guys in $50,000 Rangers with a lot of colorful patches on their shirts, as well as certain unnamed fishing guides. (Not BB)Maybe we could get a movement started to have one of the area lakes deemed an "elite lake", usable only by genetically superior Super Fishermen.Anyone caught fishing on the Elite Lake not of the Super Fishermen Race (or would it be Super Fisherperson Race,I'm not sure where women would fall. They probably would have to marry into the Super Race.Got to have breeders after all.)would be shipped off to interment camps.Repeat offenders would face the firing squad. Seriously though, don't you see this kind of behavior in all aspects of everyday life?I think our society as a whole has become very self absorbed and manners and courtesy are values that aren't as prevalent as maybe they should be.And of course we all remember the people who have slighted us in some way more than we do someone who has shown us respect and dignity. And when that happens doesn't it make us feel a little bit worse about ourselves? I'm sure Bill you just had a bad day and Lord knows you're on the lake alot more than I so have to endure this behavior on the lake alot more than most.Just please don't lump all of us poor boys in together, just as you wouldn't like to be lumped in with some of the jerks we've all encountered. No ill feelings, I love the info that you provide and you're an asset to this forum.Just my turn to vent. Remember the joy is not in the catch but in the pursuit.Or at least that's what I've been told:-)
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 4, 2007 Root Admin Posted April 4, 2007 I thought we were talking about crappie fishing?
Members willow Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Wow, this forum definitely got me thinking about my upcoming trip to TR. Kind of in a bad position. First we are staying at Big Cedar and I hired a guide, second I just bought a new Tracker 190 (had my other tracker for 17 years without a problem) and am very excited to run it on this lake, and lastly I am a Psychologist! Kind feel like I met get strung up the first day! Believe me, we have boaters in Wis who are just as inconsiderate, I am not one of those! willow
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 4, 2007 Root Admin Posted April 4, 2007 We should all be like ducks and let the pee roll off our backs.
Members MikeS Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Exuuuuuuse me for owning a Nitro which is a Tracker Marine product and one that has served me well for the past 5 yrs. It's too bad we all can't afford the Rangers and Tritons of the bass boat world, we buy what we can, take care of it, and hope it takes care of us. I've seen plenty of knuckle heads out there in their 50K rigs who could use a course or three in fishing and boating etiquette, and who think the only time the trim switch is used is before and after trailering.Yeah the lake's crowded, we have to deal with it,go early, go late,or at night, granted you can't get in as many hours but their quality is so much better. I know this may sound cheesey but when i get frustrated with all BS that can go on out there on the lake i try to remember how lucky i am to live in such a beautiful area with easy access to a wonderful fishery-perplexing though it is sometimes-and try to stay away from the fools when their around. HANG IN THERE.
Members BIG BASSIN Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Bill this is my first reply to a post. I have really enjoyed your post in the past and have learned a lot about table rock from reading them submitted by you and others. I have fished for many years and enjoy fishing both tournaments and taking kids and family. Every day the good Lord lets me spend on the water is a blessing. But your post on Bass Pro products was uncalled for. I can remember when fishing bass tournaments many years ago people look down on you if you didn"t fish out of a Ranger. I fish out of a charger and have for many many years and it is matter of choice not cost. Plus they are made in MO and stand behind their boats. I did buy a tracker back 1983 and really enjoyed that boat. Sure it isn"t like my 21 ft. bass boat but have you forgotten what it was like not to be able to afford the boats we now own. I still beleive I caught as many fish out of that tracker as I do now. The boat doesnt make the fisherman or person. Like you I have been cut off many times and just like when driving a car it doesnt make it right but why let it ruin your day or every one else day around you. I fish the lake of the ozarks alot and table rock which is getting more crowded doesnt compare. Next time someone cuts you off firmly by politely explain to them this is not good fishing manners. Then if they do not understand or get smart let them know your feelings. Like the other gentleman stated this is a big lake, learn to share. I know you guide but a dear friend I have on Truman Fred Baraks says "I want every client to catch fish (and the usually do) but never reveil your best spots, because I enjoy fishing and have spent hundreds of hours finding them, In your reports give the conditions and depth and baits and let people learn on their own. A person new to this lake would have to be an idiot if he read your post and it said you can catch them in brushy creek, next to the big tree on the point. How can you get mad if you tell the world and the next time you go their are forty boats their.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 5, 2007 Root Admin Posted April 5, 2007 Where??? May be your better PM me. You know... crowds.
Tightline Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Don that last post was hilarious .Guys, I understand why you BP product owners could be a little upset, but he did apologize.Even though I love to fish I don't think that I could take the stress that these guides go through every day, trying to please clients, and deal with the public. And watch while people catch fish out of your favorite spots that took you years to find. Besides that I think it was a good thing that at least he got a rise from alot of you newbies, all good post,so lets hear more from you guys! Crappie, someone say crappie?
