Members jwilson48 Posted July 16, 2017 Author Members Posted July 16, 2017 the gills were on minnows and jigs with 1/0 hooks lol. We were crappie fishing they just wouldn't leave us alone. Brush piles 10-13 ft deep were the best for gills
MrGiggles Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Fished again tonight and caught a dozen short crappie, one gill, and a small bass. All jigging on brush and stumps. -Austin
Members BHowe Posted July 17, 2017 Members Posted July 17, 2017 First time out on Pomme in years. Managed to find a mess of them 8" crappie:) Girlfriend caught a nice 12 1/2" and that was it. Between swimming to keep cool, we didn't really put too much effort into fishing. I did manage to put a 4x6" hole in the bottom of my Nitro!!! Luckily it didn't go all the way through the hull. I reckon I can patch it up enough to get the job done. If my memory serves me right, there's a log in the water in a bend right below Lightfoot campground....well, I remembered it about the same time I hit it:)
Members jwilson48 Posted July 18, 2017 Author Members Posted July 18, 2017 There are lots of logs there if you're talking about negro bend. Both sides of the channel have standing timber so it's best to stay closer to the shallow point. Sorry about the boat I'd cry!
Lifes2Short Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I was up yesterday and since we couldn't find many bass we tried for the crappie. We found some nice slabs, believe it or not, in 2 to 4 feet of water on stumps. Couldn't believe they were that shallow!! Tons of shad that shallow and the crappie were right there with them. Tight Lines! bassfisher and ramman123 2
