Stump bumper Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I was board and starting looking at the Night tournament weights on NWA Castmasters. I saw were 10-11 lbs 5 bass limits were top bags this year and last year would not have even placed. Spring bags were around 20lbs. I don't have a clue what the nightly jackpots or other clubs that fish all summer are doing. Any thoughts on this? It is my theory the fish are in the same spots but those spots are further from shore and deeper now, but like I said I am not a good night fisherman at all.
Dan the fisherman Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 I would guess to look in same depth as normal pool. I've been out a few times with friends and notice that my normal spots and several feet deeper and no fish in the spots. Normally this time of the year I'm looking in 20-30 feet of water. All my summer time spots are 30+ ft right now. If I had a boat, I'd be looking for new stuff in the 20-30 foot range, really more close to 20ft though
Guest Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I think the fish are super scattered due to all the water in the bushes. The fish dont have to move far to get a meal. Thus, you need to cover miles of shoreline to get 5 bites. Just my 2 cents
Dan the fisherman Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 I went out with non OAF member yesterday and did pretty good. We fished 15-25 fow. We ended up with 10 spotted bass and even a couple of crappie. Got them on spoons, drop shot and top water. Channel swings and points did it. We fished mostly north of the bridge Lance34 and Blll 1 1
Blll Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Hey Dan! Great to hear any report and a successful one even better. I really need to master the drop shot and spoon techniques. Goin' 'at em hard next week.
Dan the fisherman Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 They're definitely biting. Use ur electronics to locate and drop down to them. Water temps are dropping also. It's was 82-83 when I was out.
Royal Blue Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I know on Table Rock and Bull Shoals if you find shad in pockets or creeks, you find bass. I've been catching shallow fish all summer on those lakes. As the water temp drops they'll stay shallow too. You just have to cover a ton of water to find them.
