sandbc Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Well the crappie bite is still on or at least it was up to last weekend. fished sat and sun and limited out both days. still not much for size but they are keepers and they are fun. sat I fished trees and caught all of them near the bottom in 23 foot of water. sunday I fished shallow brush piles and caught all fish about 6 foot deep. both days was mostly jigs with a few on minnows. i would say that over half of the fish had bloody eggs like they are getting ready to spawn.. I have heard talk of winter spawn. any comments? I will keep fishing through the winter if the wind doesnt blow. I can take the cold but not when the wind blows much. good luck and happy holidays everyone.
Smithvillesteve Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Glad to hear you are catching crappies on Pomme. I have a place on Pomme but very seldom fish for crappies there. I go over to Truman or Loz to fish for crappies. I have never heard of a winter spawn for crappies. I am not the resident know it all on fish spawn but i dont think this happens.
Members jwilson48 Posted December 13, 2017 Members Posted December 13, 2017 weekend before last we caught two limits in 2 or 3 hours fishing timber with minnows. 16 ft down in 16-26 fow. last weekend they just weren't there. only had 8 in the boat from 8 am to 2 pm. hit two brush piles one in 25 fow the other in 15 fow. finished up our limits there in short order. fished with jigs. size is still a problem for sure. a lot more dinks than keepers only had one over a lb each day. grizwilson 1
