Members cracklebak Posted January 6, 2018 Members Posted January 6, 2018 Wondering if there's any resources to check bull shoals water temps? heard that when it gets down around 42 the trout all take naps and it's worthless fishing, would like to avoid that.
sfiser Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I think you heard wrong. When the water temp in the lake drops, it can create a shad kill and the shad get sucked through the turbines and you can have some of the best fishing of the year. The trout will bite great all winter long, water temp really doesn't matter.
Ham Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 The water coming thru the turbines is a fairly consistent low 40’s. Trout bite just fine when it is cold. They bite when water is really cold. They may get even dumber than when the water is Mid 50’s. dress warm and you can fish when it’s really cold like low teens air temp. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
