Two Items

1.  "When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

My good Lord, how can I teach my students to learn to write like this.

 

2. Across the street from us, a home on the bluff of the lake burned down about 18 months ago.
I just walked over to that slab to watch the fireworks. Two wonderful and mellow aged hippies were already there. As we watched, we discussed the fireworks, their reason, and what life has been like in pyrotechnic terms.
The light show was fantastic!
Mellow people are even better!
