Scope for pellet rifle

I'm looking for help finding a decent scope for my pellet rifle.  Got one of the cheap ones and can hardly see anything particularly around early morning and dusk.  Using it as pest control, hate squirrels!

Willing to invest up to $100 or more if it makes a difference in being able to hit those rats.  

Ideas????

Wrench, just got my scope per your recommendation.  wow, what a difference!  bright, clear image and cross hairs I can see.  Just need to get it sighted in and the squirrels will be in trouble.
