I keep hearing guys say that and I can't help but think that the "wind pattern" is merely in your head.  I don't know Stockton Whites at all, but where I fish the wind direction has no effect whatsoever, so I actually prefer it to be calm.   Shad are everywhere regardless of how the wind blows. The Whites here certianly don't need wind to help them find food.

Is the shad population kinda low on Stockton ?

Wrench the wind is my friend.  When it gets to howling for a few consecutive days the food chain is localized.  The small boats with less than powerful trolling motors can't stay on the good water which can make for some 200 fish days.  I run a 60 inch shaft 36 volt 112 pounds of thrust trolling motor on my Nitro.  I can stay until water starts coming over the bow.

Sorry to say but not even a 50 fish day on this trip.
