Members gator05
hi, id like to introduce myself. i just moved to springfield in august for college. im a big hunter and fisherman and have always wanted to fish for trout but never had the chance to until this year. ive never realy had the desire to flyfish until i took a trip down to the hatchery. after seeing the numbers of trout in the water and watching the peolpe flyfishing i decided to go buy a pole and a few flies. after my first day i was surprised at how hard it really was. ive only been 3 times so far and havent caught but about 3 fish. ive been saving my money so i can book a trip with chartered waters guide and hopefuly learn how to improve and catch more fish. i may ask questions from time to time and im open to any suggestions. thanks, adam
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 15, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted January 15, 2006 Come by the shop- call or email first- and I'll set you up with some flies and instruction. Jeremy Hunt is around now- if you can come down for one of him fly tying classes, you'll get tons of info on fishing. He'll even take you fishing- he's not too busy right now. Sorry - I own Lilleys' Landing here on Taney and have a fly shop. I can give you directions when you call.

CaptainT16
Welcome Gator! You sound just like me. I moved to springfield right after college and visited the hatchery and thought, WOW, I need to try this sometime. Sure enough, I went to walmart and bought a cheap pole to start with and it does take awhile to learn, but I tell you I got HOOKED. I absolutely love it, and better watch it or it will get in your blood. I currently live in KS, but love to make it to Taney with my father as much as we can. Welcome to the board and keep us up to date on how the fishing goes. "He told us about Christ's disciples being fisherman, and we were left to assume...that all great fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fisherman and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman." - Norman Maclean-A River Runs Through It
