Members jtniemo Posted May 30, 2019 Members Posted May 30, 2019 Heading up to your beautiful lake this sunday. Was wondering if any stripes are around the lost bridge dam area. Thanks for the help.
Notropis Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 You'll be in the right area, stripers will be on the lower end of the lake for the next few months. There's been a top water bite for a few weeks but it's tapering off (see Quillbacks posts on this lake). Your best bet will be live bait, gizzard shad (if you can get them) or brood minnows sold locally. If you want to try top water, get out EARLY, it's usually over with by 7:00. Good Luck!
Quillback Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Well I am a still looking - went out early today with a buddy and we covered lots of water, never saw much top water activity, at least from stripers. Black bass were active, buddy caught a 3 lb. LM on a fluke over 50 FOW, we caught several nice 15-16" spotted bass, a few smaller spots and finished up with several smallmouth off a rocky bank on jigs. Black bass are chasing shad on top in places, seems to reason so would the stripers, but it just isn't happening. Saw a few guides pulling shad down by point 6 that might be a good place to start looking.

Quillback Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Yep I believe spoons can catch them, just not something I like to do for stripers, I would rather find them on top and if I can't find them, I'll go bass fishing. dan hufferd 1
