MrDucky Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Howdy guy's , As some of ya know i am a operations manager for 3 C-Stores . Monday we had a drive off at our springfield store . They stole 43.55 dollars of fuel . the sad thing here is the clerk will now have to pay for this out of her check , She makes 7.00 an hr and works approx 24 to 30 hrs a week , Shes a student ( i am going to pay this for her , she is a great empoylee , anyways i called the local police department and told this would never be pursued by the police department due to the lack of officers . What i am asking is if anyone here has a way to run a license plate for me and give me the info i need to find this person and have him prosecuted . Please anyone that can and will do this for me , would be greatly appreciated Yikes!!! I Hate that warning horn
Leonard Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 John.. Do you have cameras at your store??? I would post a flyer at all the doors with the picture of the car,the license plate and time it happened at all 3 stores... Id call the police department again... That is stealing if she did knowingly... They should do something... if they dont call County Sheriff They will.... Gas has shot out of the roof... If the Police dont do nothing about it now.. what are they going to do in the middle of the summer... http://www.taneycomonights.com
MrDucky Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 yeah we have have cameras , 4 of them on the pumps . I am gonna post them on the doors . Your right though atleast putting the pictures up , the guy will know we caught him . The PD said to me though if its not 100.00 or more from other stores , they dont have enough officers to pursue it... Yikes!!! I Hate that warning horn
jdmidwest Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I thought MO had a policy that drive offs lose their license. I have noticed stickers on most pumps with a Highway Patrolman and a little phrase stating that in our area. Contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol and give them the license plate and other info. Kansas Fly Fisher Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 If Chief Can't help you, let me know. I think I can. I'll need the same info. One question though, why does this little gal have to pay for the drive-off out of her check? She didn't have anything to do with it and couldn't stop it if she wanted to. Just curious. I think it's great that your footing the bill, but I still wonder why an employee is responsible for this theft. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
Rusty Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Would she have to pay if the store was robbed? This sounds like something a TV station would like to get ahold of.
Danoinark Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Gentlemen, remember if you ask someone to run the plate...which is exactly what Ducky's local police can do, and its not for legitimate purposes then its an NCIC violation. If one of us asked a police officer or dispatcher to run it and its not in their jurisdiction it could be a violation and its a crime. Ducky you need to take the license plate number to your district attorney or prosecuting attorney and file a citizen complaint. They should follow through on your affidavit. Not trying to pick a fight but this policy of the clerk paying for drive-offs sucks !! What are they supposed to do? Confront the thief or chase them down ? Ridiculous rule but kudos to you for stepping up to the plate for her. Corporations and their asinine policies
MrDucky Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 paying for the theft of fuel is something i hate to enforce ... The owners have made all our stores 100 percent prepay . Unfortunaly she went on her instinct , an older man , clean car , she approved it without having him prepay . I have had to pay for 3 drive offs myself , its not fun . The owners make it clear thru documentation that clerks will be held reponsible . Yikes!!! I Hate that warning horn
