Can anyone tell me their thoughts on fishing the Many Islands area, and the areas south of there, and best ways to access?

Thanks

For trout? Forget it... Not worth the trouble unless you are canoeing or in a boat... and it's never been a "hot spot" for trout with anyone I've talked to. The trout waters end just downstream from the confluence of Myatt Creek and I've not heard of anyone doing that well down there... probably because of the lack of real access.

Good smallmouth and other fishing down that way. Really no access until you get to Hardy unless there's something I missed. If you have a boat, put in at Hardy and motor upstream. You will be in some good water for warmwater fish.

Put in at Spring River Oaks.

Take out at the low water bridge on the east bank or go all the way down to Hardy.

You'll need a boat.

I've never fished it like I want to, but I caught fish.

This is a trip I plan to do with Cajun Angler. Hopefully this year.

I believe you can rent a canoe at Hardy and they will take you upriver and let you float back to Hardy. Check with Beach Club canoe rental, I think its the place right there in Hardy on 63.

There are several shuttle/rentals in Hardy that work that float... Beach Club is on and Three Rivers (up on the hill behind McDonald's is another. There is some pretty good smallie fishing below Hardy as well...
