Members Todd R Williams Posted December 14, 2019 Members Posted December 14, 2019 Greetings, We are New to the Holiday Island area and would like to try some fishing from shore. We are here in the winter months. Best bait/techniques/where to fish/what to target this time of year. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TRW
Quillback Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 There's some shoreline access in the Holiday Island area near the marina, but across the road. The COE parks downstream, Big M and Eagle Rock have some shore access, but with the lake at 916 it is somewhat limited. Once it gets to around 910 there is much more accessible bank. There's also some neighborhood ramps in Viney that have a bit of fishable shoreline. Best thig to do is get out and do some scouting, you'll find places to fish. Just about all my bank fishing on Table Rock involves dragging a Ned rig - a couple of years ago, the lake level was at 907 in late February and myself and a buddy were catching a lot of bass from the bank. Walleye run up the White early in the spring, then there is a white bass run. You might be able to intercept some off the bank at Holiday Island.
Devan S. Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Covered pretty well. Only thing I can add, is on the north side of the Beaver bridge is a walking trail that will take you to the point at butler creek. I've never fished there from the bank but would be a spot to check out. In addition to all the access below the dam. Quillback 1
rps Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 The flat point right at the entrance to the Holiday Island marina and then upstream until you reach the trees is worth a try. Bass and walleye, try the Ned rig, dragged, and a silver buddy fished on the drop and slow rip off the bottom. Go upstream just past the turn to the left. Right in front of the small graveyard is good. The mouth of Butler Creek, as mentioned above is excellent. Directly opposite that mouth, if you get permission first, would also be excellent in the late Spring. Quillback 1
