adjust555 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Was wondering if anyone has caught crappie with eggs still in them like i did sat. night. If so, why?
Dutch Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 It is my understanding that not all fish spawn and of those that do not all spawn all their eggs. The ones that don't have the eggs absorbed by their bodies. I have caught fish in the early fall with what looked like blood clots in the egg sacs and talked with fisheries biologists who explained it that way.
adjust555 Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 Thanks, Hope most did spawn. Hate to see the crappie fishing deminish the next couple of years
Whodat Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 The fish we have been catching the last 2-3 weeks about half of them had eggs still in them. I have heard they absorb them back up too!
Whodat Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Just got done cleaning fish for Tony and 1/3 of the crappie still had eggs in them today. Some bloodly and some look like fresh sacs. Beats me!
