Danoinark Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Looks like a boga grip for trout. Feathercraft also sells a 29 dollar model that is a bit heavier than this one. Dano http://www.risingfish.net/LippaUSA.html Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
jcoberley Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Nope I have not! However it looks like a set of plyers my dad had to hook in bulls nose for working them. He didnt like to use rings. Fish slow and easy! Borrowed this one from..........Well you know who! A proud memer of P.E.T.A (People Eating Tasty Animals)

fishinwrench Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Maybe I'm just being an butt....but a good job of "hand landing" the fish (any fish) is part of the skill that makes a flyfisher what he is. If I said that those boga's and similar gadgets are "Yuppy flyfisher" toys...would y'all think poorly of me ? Cuz we can't have that

Cuz we can't have that I got to agree with you there fishin', but for the gadget guru's, another way to make em happy... Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
jOrOb Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Well, I better disagree with you there wrench. Saying using a gadget to land fish is cheating is akin to saying using a reel to catch fish is cheating. Boca Grip devices allow you to lip a fish without making hand to fish contact, which does not remove slime coat. Better for fish! Also, the Boca (or other similar devices) has built in measuring and weight, allowing an angler to land, weigh, measure, and release a fish very quickly. John, you caught a very large trout at RR last spring and you had it out of the water what 30 sec? We all got a good look, and you got a weight and measure. Just out of curiosity, anyone used one of the ones similar to the Boca made by different manufacturers? Boca Grips are outrageous, but Rapala and others make units for less than half the price. Many with similar features. But do they work as well?? jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me." Rev MacLean
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I must say that I really enjoy my Boca Grip. It's quick and easy and makes returning the fish "all but" harmless. Your right, they are expensive, but this was a splurge from the slush fund that I saved up for. I've not tried any of the others, but I did look at them when I was deciding what type to get. After looking and talking with others that used the Boca I opted for it. And; No, I don't hold nothing against ya wrench for your thoughts. I'm a bit of a gadget guru and enjoy them.
