Members TrophyFishR Posted April 19, 2020 Members Posted April 19, 2020 We fished yesterday afternoon. Sunny & beautiful with lots of boater traffic. Water 61, greenish clear, light south wind. For some reason, we had no luck in spawning pockets. We did best on bluff banks. Ned Rig 8-15ft deep. I found a big school of fish in a spawning pocket. Sent the aquavu camera down to find it was 100 bluegill loosely gathered above a small brushpile. I spent way too much time trying to catch "bass" in that spot. The AquaVu doesn't lie. There are definitely some deep fish offshore, but ive gotta spend more time with the AquaVu to determine what I'm seeing on the down imager. Lance34 1
sfiser Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 these cold nights have just not allowed those fish to go in there and spawn. We looked around in 1 pocket Saturday morning and the water temp was 54 and I immediately abandoned that plan and went deeper and found some fish off points.
bferg Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 We found a few in brush piles (smaller bucks) last Friday but they were all in the first 1/3rd of creek arms/pockets. As we went farther back we got nothing...
Members JMCat Posted April 21, 2020 Members Posted April 21, 2020 Thanks so much for the updates guys. I went to Bull shoals last weekend and we had a blast. But I am going to try to get out to Beaver soon. Fish were mostly on main lake points and down inside bank to the first pocket. We caught 20+ smallmouth per day on swimbaits and megabass jerkbaits. Sore Thumbs Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 We had a friendly derby with 10 guys on Sunday. They were chomping! Had seven 5lbrs caught out of 10 people. Unfortunately I didn’t have one of them. Went out last night for a few hours. Bite was really tough. I guess blue bird skies after cold front shut em down. It’s about to get good!
