Fishmeister Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I am thinking about purchasing this line, the price seems resonable 39.00 bucks. I am a beginner to fly fishing, so I don't need the latest and greatest, but don't want junk either. Mainly will be fishing a 5WT at Taney and Roaring River, and probably some gill fishing also. Thanks for the input.
Danoinark Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 SA lines are good, I don't think you could go wrong especially if Lefty has endorsed it. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Terry Beeson Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I'll second that motion... TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Gavin Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I've had mixed opinions on Lefty endorsed products...Frankly, he's almost as bad as Roland Martin.. Take a look at the product specs on the SA website. The "Lefty" line it appears to be a fairly standard WF line without the super slick AST coating found on the more expensive Mastery Series lines. I'd probably go with SA's GPX line or a Rio Grand. Cheers.
WebFreeman Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Gavin, are you implying that Roland's rocket fisherman isn't a quality product? “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.

Fishmeister Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 thanks for all the input. I was doing some more looking and BPS has their CV2 line on sale for 14.88? Just don't know, being a beginner that I would tell alot of difference between a 20 dollar line and a 60 dollar line?
mcp633 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I've always liked the CV2 line myself. As long as it's clean. I think it casts as well as my Orvis Wonderline G3. If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them
Greg Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Fishmeister I really like that CV2 line. I've got 3 or 4 of them in various weights. I have always heard that SA makes it. It has been very durable for me. It's only fault is that after a while (and unless you clean and redress it) the tip sinks. But a lot of fly lines have that problem even very expensive ones. I think it would be a fine line for a beginner. I didn't know it was on sale for $15. What a deal!!! Fishmeister Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 Greg, I don't know if its on sale in the store in Spfld., but I checked BPS clearance items on the net and they were on clearance for 14.88. I think I will give CV2 a try to start with and later pick me up something more expensive, maybe after some experience with the CV2 I could better compare the differences of the lines. Thanks!
