Members Jhenson86 Posted July 31, 2020 Members Posted July 31, 2020 Hey guys wanted some ideas on a issue I am having. I just bought a new to me z-8 nitro. I put a ultrex trolling motor on it. My issue is the foot control does not really fit in the recessed floor. I need to shim up the front a little so there isn’t pressure on my wires. Has anyone else ran into this and what was the solution? Thanks. I was thinking just plastic shims but wanted to see what others had done
fishinwrench Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 Shim up the pedal up until when you are heeled down all the way the heel is level with the deck. Having to stick your toe (or heel) in a hole, while you're fishing, is worse than having your foot up on a high pedal.
Members Jhenson86 Posted August 2, 2020 Author Members Posted August 2, 2020 Thanks for the input wrench! Took the new boat out yesterday. I am having a issue. The boat leans hard to the right when I am climbing out of the hole. When I get on pad and trim up it levels out. But all my prop wash is shooting out the left side. This is a 225 pro xs with a atlas hydraulic jack. Running a 26 pitch fury prop. Boat pretty well empty haven’t loaded much into it yet. Have any ideas what I can do to solve this. Boat is a 2010 nitro z8.
fishinwrench Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 How much setback is the Atlas jackplate? And is it 100% square with the hull? No slop in the steering system? Are you running a prop that some prop-shop scientist has altered the cup, pitch, or diameter? Or is it a prop that you can order a duplicate of first thing Monday morning?
Members Jhenson86 Posted August 2, 2020 Author Members Posted August 2, 2020 I don’t know if someone has messed with the prop. But it looks brand new and doesn’t have a nick in it. I think it more then likely has been worked. Honestly when I look at the motor from the back it doesn’t look completely square. I know it wouldn’t take a 1/16 of a inch to throw it off. I will add some picture and measure the offset when I get back to the house. I was thinking of possibly trying a 4 blade prop.
Members Jhenson86 Posted August 2, 2020 Author Members Posted August 2, 2020 The steering is tight. It’s sitting on a 8 inch jack plate. Also this skeg protecter I thought may be throwing it off? Don’t know that it’s necessary thought about taking it off also. Correction to earlier post it’s a 25 pitch fury.
