Will S. Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 I have a bad Carling CMB Series 15A Breaker. Are the CLB Series 15A the same thing ?Thanks..
Will S. Posted August 16, 2020 Author Posted August 16, 2020 Does someone know the difference is CMB & CLB series breakers. They appear to be both for marine use, both one push reset & both thermal breakers. There are many more options labeled CLB. The bad breaker in my Alumacraft was a CMB, but I dont know if it was original or not. When I find out the difference, I will change out all my breakers. Thanks for your responses.
liphunter Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Will, I could not find a definitive yes on that anywhere. Take it for what it's worth, but DC circuits was my forte in the corp and on my railroad job. So basically my whole life. After looking at the spec sheets for both. I personally would not have any problem replacing one with the other. Of course keeping the same current rating. The only thing that really stuck out to me is you can get a CLB in higher current capacity. Again you want to stay with what you have on that. And the housing design is a little different. You could also contact Carling off of there web site. If someone reads this and disagrees with me. Please share that. No ego when it comes to safety. I am just saying I would be comfortable doing it. Will S. Posted August 16, 2020 Author Posted August 16, 2020 CMB-Series Compact, Push-to-reset actuator. Single pole, 3 - 20 amps @ 125-250VAC, 32VDC. CLB-Series Push-to-reset actuator. Single pole, 3 - 60 amps @ 125-250VAC, 32VDC.
Will S. Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 I received a reply from CARLING. The breakers are interchangeable. The difference is the capacity. The bigger CLB's are available in hight amps. Project completed. liphunter 1
