Dutch Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 It was cloudy and pretty nice here all day. My wife said she would like to be in the boat for a while so I hooked up and headed back down to Stockton. Well the weather changed. It cleared off and the mile high sky took over. To top it off the wind was straight out of the east. When the wind is from the east ......... I went to my most productive area. I didn’t get anything out but 2 buzz baits and a spinner bait. I had 5 blowups on the white buzzer, none of which took the bait. Nothing was interested in the black one at all. I started throwing the spinner bait and managed 6 shorts. I tried several other places and couldn’t get a bite on any of my 3 baits. I went back to the first area and had 2 short hits on the spinner bait. I refused to tie on anything else. They were going to take one of my offerings or go hungry. So I put out the fire and called the dogs. So since it couldn’t have been ineptitude on my part I choose to blame; mile high sky, wind from the east, post frontal, or two days in a row on the same spots. I just can’t decide which one of them to choose. zarraspook and Sam 1 1

Members BFScott Posted September 5, 2020 Members Posted September 5, 2020 The Reeves Brothers are having their little derby tomorrow thought I’d just go give it a whirl for the fun of it.
Sam Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Fishing is funny, isn't it - things can change in a hurry and every day is different. Friday, the same day you're reporting on, we fished a half day for crappie and walleye in another part of the lake and did OK. 16 good-size keeper crappie, 2 walleyes with 1 keeper, 2 white bass, 2 BIG catfish, and as many short crappie as we cared to catch and release - lots and lots of those. We were slow-trolling the flats with minnows, and we remarked on the way home how it was strange that we didn't catch any black bass at all. Drowning minnows in Stockton, we nearly always catch and release a bunch of bass (mostly short ones) - but not that day. The bass must have taken that day off, reason unknown. wtr dogs and Rootman 2
