So finally pulled the trigger on a Garmin Force and a couple of Echomap Ultra 106 units. It was like a weight lifted from my back. Never thought that decision would be so difficult to make. Now I could sure use some help of what other parts and items I might need to do a solid install. For example I want these units to communicate with each other ie. waypoints etc, so will I need the Garmin network port expander? Are there other wires or connectors I might need? Any tips or pointers will be appreciated. ✌️

I do not know one thing about installation. However, I do know you will love the units.

I did not link the bow with the console. When you are on the bow platform, that unit will be your most accurate. When you are at the console, your stern transducer tells you the most. If you troll with your tm as I do, the both units, tracking separately, give you the best information. Just my 2 cents.

Enjoy your set up!

There are 3 service bulletin items you should check into - maybe your Force unit is new enough that the modifications were made at the factory.  You can call Garmin and they can tell you based on your serial number - if needed they will send a kit free of charge - you can do the mods yourself - I felt like the instructions on the latch upgrade was a little weak but doable - there is a youtube for this as well.  I also added a Troll Tamer from T-H Marine (see pic). I feel that with this and the upgraded latch I will not need to use the velco strap most of the time.  It's a pain to use.

If you got the LiveScope, I would recommend the RM industries turret.

One thing that is different at least for me coming from Humminbird stuff, is that the transducers can overheat when turned on and out of the water.  You can disable them if the units are on and the transducers out of the water.  This is particularly true for the Livescope transducer.

You will like your new toys.
