Kansas Fly Fisher Posted August 27, 2007 Author Posted August 27, 2007 Flies are in the mail! Motroutbum had to bow out at the last minute so we have an extra set of flies. I've asked Rolan if he will photograph the flies for the swap; if so, I'll send him the extra flies for his efforts. This swap had some fantastic looking flies in them. I think I'll slip off later this week and get them wet. Great job everyone! Thanks for participating . . . John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM

Don Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I got mine too and there was some good stuff in the box. Thanks for all the work and effort as host John. However, I noticed something weird. I received two flies from each except from myself. I then remembered I only sent one for each person. One for two! Looks like I'm the big winner. Apparently I can't follow directions. I'ts a wunder I grajuaded the eihghtgh graid. Here's what I can do. If you PM me your address I'll send the other fly. Zach, I'll attach the recipe this time. I have to look up the kind of dubbings I used on the body. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.

Don How about you just meet me somewhere to fish and bring me that fly. And while you are at it, load up that big green egg and cook up some of those chickens again. I think that's the least you can do for not following directions.
Don Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 My next availability is Sat evening until Sun evening 09/08-09/09. Table Rock State Park is an option for fishing Taney but I'm open to anywhere. I'll even show you how to tie the fly. I'm also interested to learn how you tie/furl the hook to the smallie glitter yarn worm. And yes, smoked bird is the word. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Flysmallie Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I might be able to make it down some where in that time frame. You need to see how easy that worm is to tie. I bought some new material at Backcountry Outfitters that I have been tying the up with. It seems to work great and the colors choices are a little better. (Hey Michael did you ever get any purple?). Maybe we need to get together and go smallie fishing? I went back in July to the Gasconade and lost the first 3 worms that I tied on. It wasn't because they got hung up either. I was using a lighter than normal tippet and the fish hit them so hard it just broke. Ended up pulling some 8lb. test off my spinning reel and using it. Then I could land a few. These worms were gold in color. And they are so easy to tie. I'm gonna check my calendar and with the wife and see if I can make it down there. And if there is a dead bird or two involved I might be able to find us something to wash it down with.
Don Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Either Taney or a smallie trip would both work well for washing down birds. I cant leave the house until Sat afternoon 09/08. Let me know what works for you. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
