Gavin Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Got roped into a trip to Bass River Resort last weekend. Haven't camped there in 30 something years. Wow that place has grown! Tons of RV hookups now. People everywhere getting nickeled and dimed. Put in up at Berryman with two school bus loads around 9.30am. Laid back to watch the offload and got rolling around 10. Fishing was pretty decent for numbers in-spite of the crowd Not really any competition for bass, since all the weekenders were tossing wee-craws and rooster tails. Toss a bass lure in the spots that floaters didn't want to be and you caught some fish. Guess 25 or so and 3 in the 15-17" range between Berryman and Blunts (all smallmouth). Most ate a Ned and the rest on some fifteen or twenty year old Case fluke knockoff that I found in the basement. It was too crowded and mudded up to fish in most spots between Blunts and Berryman. Oblivious people in rafts piled up and doing stupid stuff. Some of it was incredibly funny, some was stupid but amusing, and only a few that I regret hearing or seeing. It was as expected, and not my problem. Caught a few more on the moldy oldy Case shads and a nice LMB on a Dog X. No Spotted bass or Hybrids so that was a plus. OK day considering. They should up the prices on the showers. I'd pay allot more than 50 cents to wash off after wading knee deep downstream of that floatilla.
Flysmallie Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Most of the big float party waters fish pretty good through all the crowds. Those fish are used to it and, like you said, most that are fishing aren't really trying.
Members mstpstl Posted August 29, 2022 Members Posted August 29, 2022 Floated this stretch on the 24th. Perfect day to be on the water. was in a group of 40 but paddled ahead or lagged behind. Caught a bunch of little bass & bluegill. Caught a nice 17" smally. Ned rig awhuber 1

Gavin Posted June 6, 2023 Author Posted June 6, 2023 It will be the same. Drop Ned’s/ jigs/flukes into out of traffc shady spots and you will catch some fish. The fish just move around the crowd and feed off the stuff the crowd kicks up. awhuber and Ozark Ranger 2
