Members TRAP
I am posting this in a few places hoping for some information Looking for help/info I will be visiting the Branson area around the 10th of September. I am looking for information on crappie fishing. I live in AK and do not get to crappie fish anymore. I am looking for all information. Will they be biting at that time, are there places one can fish from the bank/pier for crappie, if a boat is needed what marina's do you all think is the best, baits, as when fishing in LA/FL always used minnows/crickets but I do not see them mentioned much on any forum, and any other information one can think of that might help. I have looked at Lilley landing and there prices seem fair. not sure just how close to Branson that is or what body of water it supports and the fish types in the water. I will have a vehicle so if there are other/better crappie fishing lakes I am willing to drive say a 75 miles or so to get there, as a break from a family reunion is always good :-). Also I do not do crowds well so off the path decent fishing would work better then good fishing but crowded but I will deal with whatever I have too. TIA to any and all that might respond with info. Take care and God Bless America
Quillback
Lilley's Landing is on Taneycomo which is primarily a cold water trout fishery. Taneycomo is a great place to trout fish and the fishing has been good this year with some quality fish being caught. There are warm water species in Taney including crappie, but I don't know that it supports a lot of fish. You can rent a boat at Lilley's and they are very helpful as far as pointing you in the right direction. If I was in the Branson area to fish for panfish, I would go after bluegill in Table Rock, drop shot with a crawler chunk or crickets, the big gills are probably going to be deep, 20-30 feet and schooled up, finding them is the challenge, but once found you can catch some good eating sized fish. I don't know of anywhere that rents boats, so you'll need to do some research there and you're going to want a boat. There's bank access on Table Rock, primarily on the Corps parks, if you're banking it, you'll have to work for some fish, but you can at least get out and do some fishing. Bgctrading
Are you only looking for crappie fishing? There is some crappie fishing around you up the creeks and rivers out of table Rock. But you are not in the best crappie fishing we have to offer in Missouri. I would honestly look at hiring a guide for trout on taneycomo or a guide for bass up on table Rock.
