zander Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Thanks for the input brownieman, I see your point about it looking kinda flat. The flash on my digital camera is to blame there. The actual painting has a lot of metallic paints in it, and reflects light and that reduces the amount of depth visible on the picture. Under a 100 watt bulb it looks a lot better. You are right about being your own worst critic, most of time, except for when I was painting on it at work (I work a phone job so my boss lets me) someone came by and said, "Ooooh, look at the frog he is painting!" That got my blood pressure up a little bit. Once again I appreciate the feedback and if people thought the digital picture looked good, then I would feel comfortable making prints of the real deal since it looks better than the digital pic. Started on the rainbow today.
brownieman Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 No problem buddy, just a thought here now mind ya...in a painting of this nature most works there is a focal point ( so I was taught ) which would in this piece be the eye... 'The Eye of the Brown'...thus a title can be born ?? just my deranged thought process, lol Any photograph is suppose to be harder to draw / paint from than the real thing...kind of next to impossible with a fish!! back in the day the human figure was suppose to be the hardest subject to draw...in college the drawing classes I was in had live (paid well probably) nude models both male and female. the heavier models were much easier to draw as opposed to the slim ones... due to muscles, ribs, etc. I thought my first few drawing classes were great, lmao...then it started kinda getting old...those were the days, lol. I still use a genuine quill tipped pen and inkwell for my work...no feather on it though...I refuse to use the finest tip marker money can buy...the end result is close to the same to all who would view the piece...but the difference...well...guess I'm just kinda anal that way, lol My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><

duckydoty Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I would be interested in a set also. It looks great to me, and I only wish I could have half of the tallent to be able to do that. I've always wanted to learn to paint but just never had the time to sit down and try. duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Mikey Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Imagine..a Grand Slam 4 pack of trout, matted and framed...hanging on the wall over my computer. Their eyes staring at me, soulless and full of contempt. They are mocking me. They know I can't leave. They know I long to be nipple deep in the cold water, battling the fog condensing on my glasses. Curse you, oh creature of frigid streams. Harbinger of sleep lost. I will not rest until at last I have caught you, taking your tired body from water so pure... only to return you from whence you came. My having your respect...and you having mine. I need to get out more...or drink less. Each time I buy a new fly............ My wife gives me the same look........ I give her when she buys another purse... ..............................
