Got a late start and didn't put in till noon. But there were still fish to be caught. Lots of 8-12 inch fish maybe 4 over 12 and then a monster my dad caught.

Nice smallie. I like to think of the little ones as the next generation coming along. Todays dink is the beast in top picture in a few years, if we all take care of the river.

Many other floaters out yesterday afternoon? How about jet boats?

Hey Bork, Nice fish. Good to see your still around.

Are you going to tell everyone what you were throwing? Did you try any top water?

I will be floating the middle to lower part of the river on Thursday.

Most of the fish were caught on swimming minnows a couple on crawdad crankbaits. We only saw four kayakers on the water till we got close to Shelvin.

I'm new to the area. How deep and how fast is the water from Deleware to Shelvin? I have a 17 ft aluminum canoe with a small motor. Could I run this area part way down and then motor back up or is it too fast and shallow?

Thanks

It's fairly deep in most spots but there are two shelves that if you are going back up you will have to drag your canoe up.

Nice looking fish there! :D

I am wondering how the fishing is off the bank at the Delaware access? I ask this because I don't have a boat and love bank fishing. Any catfish in that river in that general area?

I'd have to say fishing off the bank at Delaware Town would be challenging considering the amount of people who throw hooks out there. There are catfish in every part of the James river and in good amounts. You'd probably be best off to find an access without an easy boat launch, and then walk or float if you had a canoe to the next good hole of water.
