Terry Beeson Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Well, looks like those of you praying that I would go back to Arkansas are out of luck... My prayer has been to stay in SW MO or NW AR and to get out of manufacturing. I'm tired of going to work for companies that slow down or close down because of competition/moves to Mexico, China, etc. I've had jobs with five companies now that have either shut down or gone to "bare bones" due to overseas competition. That has played havoc on me and my family both emotionally and finacially. Moving to Nixa last year was a good move in several ways, especially with my step-daughter being diabetic. We're only minutes from a hospital and pediatric endocrinologist who can take care of any emergencies... (We had to put her in the hospital overnight Sunday due to her going into what is called "DKA.") The fact that I'm a short drive from Taneycomo is not a bad thing either... And Cindy does like it here, too... Well, God has put a couple of things in my path that fit right in. I start classes at OTC next week. Since Northop Grumman closed due to overseas competition, I qualify for federal money to send me back to school for training. I'll be working on an Associates degree in Computer Information Technology. Then, He had my lovely bride put something else in front of me. She encouraged me to go to a job fair yesterday for Sisters of Mercy Health Systems (St John's parent) and they hired me on the spot. Only thing is the job doesn't start until October 29th and is a temorary hire. But, God willing, it can and will turn into a permanent position with them. They say I have the background and experience that will really fit in with the program they are working on and with my CIT training, that will make it even easier to get into something more permanent... (I do pray that His will be done and I do get that permanent position with them.) Anyway, I am still looking for something that will help supplement my income until October 29. I can draw unemployment in that time, but that's not going to pay all the bills even with Cindy's income. But I know He'll see us through this and provide... as He always has and does... So I'll be staying in Nixa for a while anyway... (All the glory to GOD! God is good!... All the time! And... All the time... God is good!!!) patfish Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Glad you're stickin' around Terry. Sounds like things are lookin' up for ya. Hope it keeps going in that direction.
Flysmallie Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Terry, I'm happy to hear that everything is moving in a positive direction. I feel that after Sisters of Mercy Health Systems finds out what a valuable assest you are, they will find a way to keep you around. It will be hard to wait until the end of October, but that will give you the time to focus on your studies and get used to the student life once again. I realized the other day that I had promised you some smallie flies that I never delivered on, sorry about that. I have been recently promoted and it has turned my world upside down. I went from having 3 guys work directly for me to over 50. What a difference that made!! I am working on the flies. I have been working to rebuild my stock for some fall smallie action and have started a pile for you. I may not let you have them unless you meet me at the river to try them out though!! Ronnie
Terry Beeson Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 Thanks guys... Ronnie, I know the feeling... been there, done that. I think I have less time to fish looking for a job than I did working full time... I haven't even been fishing Taney since I was laid off... Thom Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Great news Terry. After reading all of the mediocrity of the local and national news..... hearing something that is positive and was uplifting made my day. It is very interesting how God often takes difficult times and uses it to open new doors and rewarding opportunities to us if leave our hearts open and trust in his divine providence to take care of us. I completed my Bachelors degrees in Business management and Information technology and then earned a Masters degree in Computer resourse management after I was 55 years old. Being in upper management in a large corporation, I discovered that a good mix of young energetic scholars and mature experienced sages made the best management team. I am sure that you will find your niche at the new job. From reading your post today and seeing your humility and positive attidude I am sure you will succeed. I will be praying that God will bless you in your family as you start out on this new venture. Thom Harvengt

Terry Beeson Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 She's find, now, Mike... thanks... She gave us a scare with a blood sugar over 600 (120 is normal) and high ketones, but the folks at St John's PICU got her back on her pegs and home in less than 24 hours... RiverRunner Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 That is good news Terry. Getting in something Medical is pretty good job security I would think. At least they can't ship those jobs off to China or India.
