Fantastic fish! Congrats.

I've been wanting to try night fishing on Taney for awhile (missed the invite to the night fishing clinic someone put on).

If I have never done this, do I need a guide for the first time? If so, who do you guys 'in the know' suggest? Thanks so much.

kc fisher. the first few times i went out night fishing, i got discouraged. i didnt have a guide and was too stubborn to hire a guide(since i could catch fish in the daytime just fine, i just figured night fishing wasnt all that good-boy was i wrong.) i dont know any of the other night guides but i have talked to leonard alot and fished with some and it really helped and now i prefer night fishing. why dont you pm leonard and im sure he can book you up for a guide. it will be worth it-i promise

It is a whole different world at night at least below the dam at Taney. go with someone who can show you the ropes at least one time. I learned a lot with Leonard and he will move you around enought to know the area, suggest flies, and give detailed instruction.

I often hire a guide when I am fishing a new area, method, or waters. I have only been disapointed one time on the white in Arkansas. The guide was more interested in getting us our limit and back to the cabin. We were staying at Stetson's and acutually caught more fish on our own in the riffles above stetsons and in white hole below than with the guide.

That is not usually not the case as most guides are very professional and take the time to get you on fish and method. Their reputution is their livelyhood. The ones I have met at Taney are in that category.

Well worth the investment.
