I mostly want to give a tip of the cap to Jeff (Quillback) for sharing his recent experiences on this lake.

I've been pretty much beating my head against the wall on TR since I got down here Mar 1. It's been easily the slowest fishing I've had here in the last 12 years. I went to Beaver yesterday and fished the dam area. Caught 17 Smallies, 12-17", a couple of 14" Spots, and a 14" LM. A couple came on a 2.8 swimbait and the rest on the venerable Ned.  WT 64-65.5. It was a great day. Catching a hard-charging Smallie on a ML spinning rod just never gets old. Beaver is such a beautiful lake and the drive, over hill and dale, and across a one lane bridge is a hoot as well. Some real pretty country along the way.

Thanks for all your posts, Jeff.

Gald to hear you got into them Cal.  It really is a great place to fish, scenic and some fun fish to catch.  Should be some stripers showing soon, so if you come back, keep a top water on the deck.

I have not been over that one lane bridge in several years.  Once you get going over it towing a boat, there's no turning back.

Forgot to add that you're not the only one experiencing tough fishing on TR.  Couple of old timers that I know that have been fishing that lake for years say this is one of the toughest springs they've seen.

I had a good trip on the north end this past Saturday thanks to Quillback as well. It was an interesting bite. Caught around 15 with 5 over 15”, and I only felt one fish actually take the ned.  SM, LM, and spots.  Most hook ups came because I either saw my line moving or when picking up slack my line wasn’t where it was supposed to be.
…also…couldn’t get bit at all on the 2.8 Saturday.
