Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 13, 2007 Root Admin Posted September 13, 2007 Been here 3 days, fished 2 days and already my elbow is killing me. Although we are guiding, we have very accomplished fisherpeople so we're getting to fish ourselves quite a bit. They've been catching some BIG rainbows lately and they're getting bigger and bigger. Salmon are spawning all over and they're dying so there's ton of eggs and alittle flesh flowing. The rainbows are from about 4 miles down from camp on Naknek and the Char are from the Ugashik Narrows (google it). Char are in spawning colors. We fished from 11 - 6 and were beat from catching so many. Bill and I had 3 each about 30 inches, 7-9 pounds and many others from 20-28 inches. Thousands of reds (sockeye) spawning and dying. We tried to avoid the sockeye and catch the char. All caught on beads. Rainbows here- beads also. Fishing the lower mouth of the narrows, in the lower lake. Only one silver. They're pretty much done.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 13, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted September 13, 2007 Haven't seen any at all. If we go over to Brooks or Margot they'll be there but the wind/weather has not cooperated this week to boat over- may be tomorrow. Babler's heading back tomorrow evening. We're fishing rainbows today it looks like.
