Just sent my daughter to the Home Coming dance at her high school....man was that hard!! Much easier when my older son started dating! She has been dating him for a couple of months and is a good kid. He is in the band and is taking a lot of AP classes, but this is the first time I let them go in a car together! Any other Dad's gone thru this before and struggled with it?? :wahaha:

Sorry, but I couldn't resist..."One time, at band camp...".

I can really relate to your situation. I have three daughters, 7-16 years of age. I have lived it, and will for several more years. My suggestion is to be involved, but it sounds like you already have been, so you are headed down the right road. I will say a prayer for you though.

Told my Daughter if she found a guy that would walk the mile through the woods,to get to our place.Meet me with my Shotgun and the Dogs on the front porch.I would think about letting her date him.

Oh she is 29 still not married.Ah she does have a Boyfriend.

Been there, done that twice... Now getting ready to go through it again in a couple of years. The first two wound up dating losers and marrying losers. You really have little control over that if they are head-strong. But you do the best you can, hope for the best, and expect the worst... (sage words from my father and I'm sure his father before him...)

Kids... even GOOD kids... will be kids. But if he gives the appearance of being a good kid, at least there is something to be proud of...

All I can say is hang on tight... you're in for a hell of a bull ride for the next few years... but "cowboy up" my friend...

I couldn't leave this one alone.

We have (had) a different view of "dating". Dating, in short, teaches kids how to divorce. Go with and break up. That's about what it's like.

We encouraged our kids to be friends until they find one of the friends appealing. Why date someone who you would never marry? Why date till you ready for marriage or commitment? For the fun? For the sex? Both are dangerous and work against a healthy marriage.

Gotta go to Brooks so I can't go further but will try when I get back.

Hey, band member and Ap student , how can you go wrong.I have 2 high school age children one a senior and one a freshman, boy and girl respectivly.I know this doenst fit the question but I want to brag on the Branson high school marching band.We went to Webb City yesterday for the webbstock band compitition. We recieved 2nd place in our division and 4th overall , out of 25 bands from across the states of missouri kansas and oklahoma.I was so very proud as i sat with people who were just as proud of their kids, all from differant towns. The band program builds pride and relationships in the members and also respect and admiration from other students. And hey my son is an Ap student also,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Matt has a cool crown victoria and needs a date for the homecoming dance.Oh and oneshot Matt wants to know just how big an ole boy her boyfriend is.

I'm with you Phil. I have four girls and one boy. My oldest is being courted now. I am waiting for the visit from the young man asking for the hand of my daughter. It is one of the hurdles in front of him. He is one in a million. Musician in a praise band, goes on missions trips one and sometimes twice a year, committed to wait until marriage for the physical stuff. I'm praying that my boy (20) and the other three girls are as blessed.

Thanks for all the support. The dance went well and they were back at our house by 10:30 as requested. We had them invite several of their friends over for snacks and a fire in the back yard.

Crappiefisherman, would be pretty cool if we meet at one of the competitions. My daughter is in colorguard and they compete with the band. If you know their competition schedule, pm me with it and I will get hers to see if they will ever compete. They went to Nixa and Kansas City last year.
