Buzz Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Sorry I haven't been back for a while. The Brown came out of Capps. If you need me to bring anything sunday I'll pitch in, just let me know what to bring. Kyle If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 Alright, what do you want to bring? I'll bring a pack of cheese brats and some beans. How about plates and plastic wear? It looks like it will be a cold one Sunday morning. Everyone else who hasn't fished Capps that much I would recommend you bring something to protect yourself from the wind in case it is windy. Buzz Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 OK, I'll bring the plastic wear and plates and paper towels for napkins. I guess everyone will bring what they prefer to drink? See ya all at the mill at nine. I'm ready to catch some fish. Kyle If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Sorry guys, but I'm going to have to bow out of this one. My step dad is in the hospital in Joplin and I've been spending all my spare time up there. I'll be going back tomorrow as well. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and leave a few for me. ollie Posted November 25, 2007 Author Posted November 25, 2007 Sorry you won't be there. Less than ideal conditions today it looks like. I'm getting ready right now, but we will think of you today and your family. Hope your dad gets better. Buzz Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Sorry to hear about your step dad John. I hope he gets better soon. I wish everyone had been able to make it to Capps today, but I understand. It was cold with a little wind and some light rain. It appears that the creek had been stocked recently. The quality of fish was hard to believe. I won't speak for Ollie, but I caught more 14 inch Bows (and maybe even a 15 incher or two) today than any trip I've had at Capps in recent years, plus 17 Browns. I caught them on both Tan and Olive chenile grubs that I tie. It was a blast. I even broke off on a couple fish. I managed to catch 45 fish (not bragging), that's just the kind of day it was. ollie Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Oh, you don't have to speak for me. I know and realize you caught more fish than me, but I still have the mystery fish on the first or second cast! lol The rain kind of sucked, but it seemed to help out I thought. I should have stuck with the olive jig at the end, but I had to go with the confidence color, ginger. The brush had me re-tying a few times. The wind wasn't as bad as I thought it would be also. I didn't catch as many browns either, but still ended up catching over 30. It was pretty much non-stop action all morning for us. That doesn't happen often enough and the fish stocked were of a bigger size too. We both missed a LOT of strikes and I couldn't land a nice fish around 15-16". Wow, what a day "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Wow, sounds like a great day. Sorry I had to miss it. Dad's doing much better as of yesterday. They are talking about taking him out of CCU today and putting him back on the regular floor. If he continues to improve they are talking home around the end of the week.
