I went on my first flyfishing trip last week and missed a lot of fish simply because I did not see them. I have done my homework on previous posts and it seems that everyone is in agreement that Smith Action Optics in amber are the way to go. My question is are these the still the latest and greatest today?

Thanks,

Doug Kiefer :huh1:

I've used the RX action optics/smith optics for over 20 years I think they are the best, I've tried a couple of others and they wern't even close.

This guy is the best at good sunglasses. It's where I buy all mine. Chris Vogler.

Chris Vogler is a great guy. His shop (C-Sports) used to be next door to my office on Manchester Rd. but he closed it and moved it into his home. Still run into him at the grocery store on occasion..Give him a call if you need prescription polaroids. Cheers.

When I'm fishing the flats here in South Florida, I wear the amber lensed Cacoons fitovers and they are superb. Yeah, I would like to have some prescription polarized glasses, but they can get pretty expensive. With the Cacoons fitovers, I have the best of both worlds. They are comfortable, even in the hot summer, and they give me total eye protection. If you don't want to spend a bundle on prescription polaroids, give them a try.

I have a friend, a Jewish carpenter, whom you should get to know. If you do, your life will never be the same.

I just got a new pair from the local eye doctor and tried them out the other day. One thing that they have that none of my former glasses had is a coating on the inside of the lens that reduces glare bouncing off your face and reflecting on the inside of the lens. It's GREAT. I think I'm really going to like these. They aren't amber, but personally I don't like amber because, as an artist, I don't like the rather drastic change in color that I see, compared to gray. Although I'm interested in seeing fish, I'm also interested in seeing something close to the true colors of the landscape in case something about it triggers an idea for a painting.
